New Jersey School of Music

The New Jersey School of Music L.L.C. is Southern New Jersey's oldest music school. Established in the heart of Historic Medford Village in 1958 as the Medford School of Music, the music school originally offered piano and violin lessons. In 1974 the name was changed to the New Jersey School of Music. The New Jersey School of Music now offers a wide range of music lessons at both Medford and Cherry Hill locations including: Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Bass, Voice, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Piccolo, Recorder, Drums, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Banjo, Mandolin and Harmonica to name a few. Additionally, on staff is a Board Certified Music Therapist offering private music therapy sessions for students with special needs. The New Jersey School of Music offers lessons Monday through Saturday with most instruments available every day. The degreed and professionalteachers instruct students of all ages and levels and only teach the instruments they are trained and qualified to teach. The New Jersey School of Music's goal is to help bring the joy of music into your life.

The New Jersey School of Music offers recitals twice per year, frequent performance opportunities in the greater community and a Music Scholarship Program.


Our mission at the New Jersey School of Music is to provide a comprehensive avenue for creative self-expression and personal enrichment through music education to our local communities. Our educational staff is committed to developing the physical, mental and problem solving skills that not only lead to better musicians, but well rounded individuals. Dynamic and creative performance, effective practice regimes and patience are encouraged and nurtured during an individual's study of music, with the goals of musical growth and personal fulfillment firmly in mind. Our governing philosophy is that the study of music is a life long rewarding endeavor, appropriate for anyone who has ever yearned to play an instrument, and to that end, we are dedicated to presenting a wide range of students an array of creative opportunities.

• Regularly scheduled half hour, private lessons at the New Jersey School of Music cost $25 at both our Medford and Cherry Hill locations. Discounted lesson rates are available for families. The lesson fee is payable monthlyat the first lesson of the month for the month ahead. When you sign up you are assigned to a specific teacher, day of the week and time. We expect to see you every week at that time unless you let us know otherwise. Each student is entitled to four absences with make-ups per calendar year. You may be absent beyond that but we will not grant make ups. Students who remain on schedule throughout the entire calendar year are entitled to two yearly vacation days which can be scheduled after July 1st each year. To cancel lessons all you need to do is give us one weeks notice. All communication concerning lessons must go through the front desk.

• Special appointment lessons for those who cannot commit to a consistent schedule and trial lessons cost $30 per half hour.

• The weekly cost for ensembles and group classes is $12 for students and $15 for non-students.

• To schedule lessons please call us during our regular business hours in Medford at 609-654-0060 or in Cherry Hill at 856-910-0060. To schedule lessons over the phone we will need to take a credit card payment for the first month of lessons.
